The realisation of direct flights from Dubai to Dubrovnik for next year seems to be coming closer. Dubrovnik Airport have confirmed that they have met with Flydubai and have discussed the introduction of flights from the United Arab Emirates to Croatia for 2018.
According to a report in the specialised website EX-YU Aviation the airline has shown interest in expanding flights into Europe. The operations to Dubrovnik are expected to be operated four times a week throughout the summer season, with no indication on whether the airline will continue through the winter months. Flydubai already has a service to Tivat in Montenegro from Dubai and this has proven to be successful.
Since launching its operations in 2009, Flydubai has created a network of more than 95 destinations in 44 countries and opened up 67 new routes that previously had no direct air links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE national carrier from the city.
Apart from allowing passengers to fly to Dubai directly the introduction of flights would mean that Flydubai would go up against Turkish Airlines on attracting passengers from Asia. Flydubai has a code-sharing agreement with Emirates meaning that passengers can book their trip from Asia to Croatia, via Dubai, with only one ticket and through-checked luggage.
