Croatians spend a massive 2.67 billion on betting

Entrepreneurs in the field of gambling and betting in Croatia in 2016 generated slightly less than 2.7 billion Kunas in revenue, the highest in the past 16 years, shows data from the National Financial Agency (FINA).

Compared to 2001, when the total revenue amounted to 663.7 million Kunas, the year 2016 recorded a jump of 301.6 percent with 2.67 billion Kunas. By far the most popular sport for betting is football, and Croatians will bet on games all over the world, from South America to Australia.

On the other hand, the lowest number of legal and physical entities (68) was recorded in the field of gambling and betting activities in 2016, whilst the highest number of them (99) was recorded in 2008.

In 2008, there was also the highest number of employees in this activity, 7,664, whilst in 2016 that number was 6,060. However, this is 806 more employees compared to 2015.
