The New York Times has recently published an article titled ‘For Summer, Five Hot Destinations’, which has Dubrovnik on its cover photo. The article emphasizes that United States residents are traveling more than they did in summer 2016.
First of five hot destinations for Americans is – Croatia! - Indagare has a 30 percent increase in trip bookings to Croatia for travel this summer, compared with summer 2016, and Expedia.com has seen air ticket demand to the country double from last summer. Mr. Alexander of Protravel International said that he has planned several dozen private trips to Croatia for travel this summer — the most he has ever done – it’s explained in the article.
As it's said - it’s because of fantastic beaches, delicious food, culture, history and the most important thing these days – safety.
The American market is extremely important for Dubrovnik, and it keeps rising. In 2016, there were 80 961 US tourists, who made 234,994 overnight stays. From January 1st to June 10th this year, 30 372 American tourists stayed in Dubrovnik, which is 41 percent more than in the same period last year, and there were 91 128 overnight stays, which is 42 percent higher than in 2016. After the British tourists, Americans have been ranked second in the top list of visitors in Dubrovnik since the beginning of the year.
